Job description
Barilla is slooking for the next Graphics CoE Packaging Associate Technologist to join the Global Packaging Development and Innovation team. The position is based in Parma and will report to the CoE Graphics Principal Technologist.
Job purpose
Manage the design-to-print process for assigned projects, ensuring the delivery of the best packaging experience for consumers, while achieving an optimal balance between superior quality, environmental responsibility, and operational efficiency.
Key Accountabilities
New packaging development and current packaging renovation
- Execute the development and industrialization of new graphics for assigned projects, ensuring full consistency with approved artworks.
- Ensure new solutions comply with food safety requirements and the highest sustainability (ESG) standards.
- Collaborate with project leaders and WBS team members to deliver projects according to expected quality, industrial standards, cost targets, and timelines.
- Provide technical support and guidelines to Packaging Development units to ensure compliance with global graphics standards, reducing complexity and duplications.
- Support Purchasing and Quality & Food Safety in the approval, monitoring, and continuous improvement of global packaging vendors and printers.
- Execute Design to Value and PCM projects, ensuring the right level of perceived quality at optimized cost.
Graphics innovation
- Design and develop distinctive and innovative graphic solutions in line with the strategy defined by the upper manager.
- Support Marketing in evaluating and adopting new solutions through trials, mockups, and proof-of-concepts.
Systems and processes
- Manage the artwork approval process for the technical graphic scope.
- Support the development, deployment, and continuous update of Global Graphics procedures and guidelines to harmonize practices and increase efficiency.
Digitalization
- Contribute to digitalization initiatives in collaboration with IT and key stakeholders, improving team efficiency and effectiveness in line with defined strategies.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Packaging Technology, Packaging Engineering, Food Technology or related fields.
- Minimum 2/3 years of experience in packaging, graphic agencies, repro-houses, or graphic offices within packaging printers.
- Experience in Project Management is considered a plus.
- Fluency both in English and Italian.
- Availability to travel globally for approximately 10–15% of the time.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, assertiveness, international mindset, planning capability, and results orientation.
