Job Summary
Act as a critical link between safety compliance and nautical operations for the European region, providing dedicated support to both the Director Nautical and Port Operations and the Sr. Manager Safety Operations. This role is essential in managing Classification Society approvals for drydock modifications, maintaining critical safety drawings, and supporting the newbuilding process across Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Additionally, the Manager Nautical & Safety - Italy facilitates European itinerary adjustments, coordinates related port services, and proactively monitors upcoming maritime regulations to ensure fleet readiness and compliance.

Job Summary

Additionally, the Manager Nautical & Safety - Italy facilitates European itinerary adjustments, coordinates related port services, and proactively monitors upcoming maritime regulations to ensure fleet readiness and compliance.
Position Responsibilities
Safety & Newbuild Operations
- Manage day-to-day communications and operations with Classification Societies regarding modifications executed during drydocks.
- Oversee accurate and timely updates of critical safety documents, including fire plans, Life Saving Appliance (LSA) plans, and any specific safety-related ship drawings.
- Support strategic company initiatives and regulatory approvals, such as passenger capacity increases or Short International Voyage certifications.
- Provide daily operational support for the newbuilding process across all three corporate brands (Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises).
- Organize and facilitate the deck department handover process for newbuild vessels.
- Acquire, log, and track all operational improvements made to newbuilds, and assist in the seamless arrival and onboarding of the deck crew to minimize operational gaps and sustain continuous improvement.
- Assist the Director Nautical and Port Operations in executing European itinerary changes and coordinating all related port services for these activities.
- Participate in the Port Captain on Duty schedule; while on duty, monitor severe weather events, such as hurricanes, affecting the fleets in the assigned area and provide weather routing assistance to vessels as needed.
- Assist in incident response while serving as the Port Captain on Duty, providing immediate support to vessels during any emergencies that may arise.
- Facilitate necessary communications between the vessel and external entities, including the MRCC, USCG, and Port Agents, while acting as the Port Captain on Duty.
- Proactively scan, monitor, and analyze upcoming regulations from the IMO, Flag States, and Classification Societies that may impact fleet operations, ensuring the company gets ahead of compliance requirements.
- Actively assist in the ongoing review and updating of the Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure alignment with new regulations and best operational practices.
DEGREE TYPE: Bachelor's Degree
FIELD(S) OF STUDY: Finance, Emerging technologies.
Experience
- At least 4 years of experience in a similar role.
- Must have demonstrated leadership ability and good interpersonal skills to effectively deal with internal and external contacts.
- Knowledge of tech systems and finances, as well as any training in productivity and organizational tools.
- Must be able to travel (domestic and international) onboard ships as needed.
